Tragic News on Cargo Plane Accident: Fatalities Increases to 13

The total count of lives lost resulting from the freight aircraft that ignited and crashed has now risen to 13, as confirmed by official announcements.

City Leader's Announcement

While en route to the Union’s memorial service, I was informed of a thirteenth victim that died as a result of the UPS flight 2976 accident,” expressed the municipal leader in a online message. “My heart is with the relatives, associates and co-workers of all who were taken in this week’s disaster. We will endure this as one.”

Deceased Named

A release from UPS named the pilots aboard the jet as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts are extended to all UPSer who has been touched and all in our Louisville region – helping you and ensuring you get the attention and aid you need is our focus,” the firm’s communication read.

Inquiry Findings

Federal authorities announced that the UPS cargo plane’s left wing ignited and an engine detached just after departure from the aviation hub, leading to the plane to plummet and explode into a blaze.

The safety agency has said it is probing the plane’s service record, which was in the state for repairs several weeks before the crash.

Flight tracking data revealed the plane was on the tarmac in the Texas city from early September to mid-October.

“We are cognizant that this jet was present in the facility,” remarked an investigator on later, not giving a precise date range. “We will look at each aspect of repairs that was done, from the San Antonio time, straight to the time of the journey.”

Findings of Key Items

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were recovered, and the engine was found on the tarmac.

The recorders – known as data containers – were designed to withstand accident forces and severe temperatures from infernos, and they seemed to be undamaged when located among the crash debris. Investigators will reviewing data from the black boxes.

The plane’s final data recordings displayed an elevation of 475 feet and a rate of 210 miles per hour prior to the crash.

Service Record

Based on FAA files dated 18 September, a crack on a structural piece in the fuel container needed repairs.

The company ST Engineering, which stated it supplies airframe maintenance for the carrier’s jet and operates a maintenance center in Texas, chose not to provide remarks, but said it would cooperate fully when investigators contacted it.

Activities Continue

At the same time, the hub services resumed that evening with its Next Day Air or evening process, official a representative said. The three landing strips at the aviation hub were also reopened.

The UPS package handling facility in the city is the company’s most significant. The facility hires more than 20,000 people in the region, processes three hundred aircraft each day and sorts over four hundred thousand parcels per hour.

Public Support

A gathering was conducted on the late afternoon of 6 November by the regional worker’s group, which represents employees at the aviation hub, the organization’s largest shipping facility.

The union chapter, which supports UPS workers, started the gathering with a period of reflection at that time, the approximate moment of the crash before.

“This tragedy was so unexpected, so surprising,” the official addressed the assembly of attendees. “No one had a opportunity to part to any of those who we have mourned.”
